A Thwaites family business. Brenton, Stacey and dad Peter. Brenton and Stacey have long gone their own way since the early days of Netports, but still provide valuable input. Peter's brother Mosie, a retired bank manager, skilfully looks after the billing and accounts side.And our three current tech team/systems administrators have been with us for well over a decade.
Netports is a webhosting infrastructure service provider with core principal competencies in providing retail and wholesale web hosting solutions to the Australian consumer and business communities.
Founded by Peter Thwaites in 2000, Netports Pty Ltd is a 100% Australian owned business which has steadily grown to establish itself as a key small-footprint premium provider of Linux/cPanel based webhosting, reseller hosting, VPS and dedicated servers to the Australian retail and wholesale sectors.
From the very beginning, Netports included full server management and 24/7 pro-active monitoring with all services, something of which is usually a hefty extra cost elsewhere still to this day. This has become a hallmark inclusion in the Netports range of hosting services.
Our locations
Netports administrative management is based in Cooloola Cove and our billing and accounts department operates out of Brisbane.
Our primary hosting infrastructure is anchored within premier, high-security Equinix Data Centres in Sydney, ensuring exceptional local performance. To complement our domestic footprint, we also offer highly specialised, mission-critical hosting solutions deployed on the United States West Coast, the closest point to the Australian eastern seaboard. Utilising light-speed trans-pacific fibre-optic cabling straight into core Australian network backbones, latency is now a thing of the past. In fact, this very website is hosted on one of our servers there.

A Boutique Approach to Premium Hosting
While many providers view massive customer volume as their primary benchmark for success, often relying on inflated metrics to impress potential customers, we prefer a more transparent, grounded approach. As of early 2026, Netports proudly services fewer than 600 retail single website hosting accounts of our own alongside a select group of under 70 reseller, VPS, and dedicated server clients. Many of these clients have multiple services with us and host extensive customer networks of their own so our ecosystem is certainly not small, yet is intentionally contained. We are not a large corporate conglomerate, and we have absolutely no desire to become one.
We firmly believe that our boutique scale provides countless operational advantages that more than contributes to our ability to deliver and sustain a significantly higher quality service year after year. And ... we've got time for people.
Enjoying modest success for over 26 years in this fiercely competitive industry seems to suggest that prioritising quality over sheer volume isn't just a point of difference - it's the right difference.
